Meet Our Instructors

Our instructors are some of the best in the business. With over 19 years of experience in the classroom and on the table, our instructors are able to convey academics clearly but even more importantly help you understand how utilize the information in your practice.  We offer continuing education workshops and advanced training programs which are designed to expand upon your knowledge and keep you up to date on the latest therapeutic methods. Each of our instructors are specialists in their field — highly respected educators and practitioners with a passion for their methods and the profession.

John Morgan, LMBT & Board Certified Naturopath
Hope DeVall, LMBT, Reiki Master & Yoga Teacher

John Morgan N.D., LMBT #2151 is the Program Director and primary instructor of the Western North Carolina School of Massage. A full time practicing massage and bodywork therapist since 1995, John has utilized a wide variety of bodywork modalities to give over 18,000 massage treatments.      He has been a massage instructor since 1996 teaching over 12,000 hours in over 16 different courses. John became a board certified naturopath in 2001 to enhance his healing abilities with plant medicine and nutrition.

In 2004, he became an approved provider of continuing education for licensed therapists by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and currently teaches advanced courses to therapists throughout the country. John is on the advisory council of the Trailguide to the Body textbook which is used in over 1,700 bodywork schools.  He is also on the exam development committee of the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards, is considered a subject matter expert, test writer and developer for the massage licensure exam in over 42 states.

Recently he became a National Teacher Training Curriculum Development committee member of the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education. John is a highly skilled adult educator and therapist and is ready to guide you in your learning process, to activate and actualize your potential and to share his experience and passion for massage and bodywork.

Hope DeVall Morgan, LMBT #10846 is  is the owner of the Mind Body Connection, Center for Therapeutic Massage in Asheville, NC. In 2010, she founded Serenity Now Massage Therapy, LLC in Cornelius, NC, which was sold in 2012, but still in operation. She studied Communications at Gardner Webb University, and she has used her education as a tool for successful business development, marketing and public speaking. Prior to her becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist, Hope was an Account Executive in the Home Furnishings Industry traveling to business as an onsite educator for product and sales training. Essentially she taught businesses and sales people how to market and sell their services. Since making her leap into the world of massage and natural health, she has utilized both her ability to develop strong business models with her ability to teach adults. Hope has been a NCBTMB Approved Provider of Massage Therapy Continuing Education since 2011. She teaches 10 different Continuing education courses from Aromatherapy , Ethics, Marketing your Massage Practice to Stretching on the Table. Hope is also a Yoga Instructor and Reiki Master, drawing from both of these, the practice of mindful awareness added to everything she does. Her passion for the massage profession is apparent; from the courses she writes and teaches, to the charities she is involved with. In addition, to her private practice, continuing education courses, and role as Director of Admissions at WNC School of Massage, Hope also volunteers for Massage without Borders, a non-profit organization to help massage therapists who are in crisis as a result of natural disasters. Her compassionate nature coupled with dedication, knowledge, and experience makes her a powerful resource to help you along your educational path.
